MHS Named One of Canada’s Best Managed Companies
Toronto, ON— MHS is celebrating a decade of being named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.
MHS has again been recognized for its industry-leading performance, global business practices, and sustained growth by receiving the prestigious 2023 Canada’s Best Managed Companies award. As a Platinum Club Member, MHS takes pride in this accomplishment.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program awards excellence in private Canadian-owned companies. To attain the designation, companies are evaluated on their leadership in strategy, culture and commitment, capabilities, innovation, governance, and financial performance.
As MHS celebrates its 40th anniversary, the organization remains committed to delivering reliable data-driven solutions in four core areas: Clinical, Education, Talent Development, and Public Safety. The foundation of MHS’ work is rooted in science and research, and this forms the basis for the company’s ongoing pursuit of innovation.
Hazel Wheldon, CEO of MHS, expressed her gratitude for being recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. “MHS is dedicated to being a digital leader as we continue to progress and transform. MHS aspires to build a foundation of trust with its users, and the company strives to lead the industry by setting the bar high for fairness, bias reduction, digital ethics and trust standards,” Ms. Wheldon says.
Canada’s Best Managed Companies is one of the country’s leading business awards programs recognizing innovative and world‑class businesses. Hundreds of entrepreneurial companies compete for this designation yearly in a rigorous and independent evaluation process. Applicants are evaluated by an independent panel of judges with representation from program sponsors and special guests.
“How we do what we do sets us apart in our industry,” says Ms. Wheldon. “At MHS, we are dedicated to ensuring fairness and equity in all aspects of our organization, including internal hiring, recruitment, and people development practices. As an organization, MHS has a unique opportunity to contribute towards equitable outcomes for all, and we are committed to fulfilling this responsibility.”
The 2023 cohort of Best Managed companies shares common themes such as having a people-centric culture, targeting effective ESG strategies, and accelerating operational digitization. “The 2023 Best Managed winners exemplify the highest Canadian business standards of innovation, adaptability, and resilience,” says Lorrie King, Partner, Deloitte Private and Co-Leader, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. “Over the past year, companies such as MHS have excelled by continuously adapting and successfully responding to challenges, seizing new opportunities, leveraging industry-leading competencies to maximize their investments, and driving sustainable growth.”
“To become a Best Managed Platinum Club winner is a huge accomplishment,” adds Derrick Dempster, Partner, Deloitte Private and Co-Leader, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program “Companies such as MHS who attain this high standard of excellence demonstrate consistent resilience, versatility, and strategic acuity. Year after year, they thrive in a competitive, rapidly changing market. This year’s winners should take pride in attaining this prestigious award in recognition of their significant and ongoing contributions to Canada’s business landscape.”
