Webinar description:
Giftedness and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can each shape how a student learns, behaves, and engages at school, but when they occur together, a student’s profile can be especially complex. Twice-exceptional (2e) learners with ADHD may be overlooked, misunderstood, or misidentified when strengths and challenges are considered in isolation.
This webinar will help attendees better understand the nuanced assessment considerations involved in identifying gifted students and gifted students with ADHD. Participants will be introduced to Dr. Pfeiffer’s tripartite model, learn about key components of the Gifted Rating Scales™ Second Edition (GRS™ 2) and explore common factors that contribute to missed identification and misdiagnosis. The session will offer practical insight into recognizing the whole learner and supporting more accurate, fair, and comprehensive identification practices.
Learning objectives:
• Identify key challenges in recognizing gifted students and twice-exceptional gifted learners with ADHD.
• Describe dominant models of giftedness and their relevance to assessment practices, with attention to how these models can support more comprehensive identification of twice-exceptional learners.
• Explain key features of the GRS 2 rating scales and how they can help inform the identification and assessment of gifted and twice-exceptional learner profiles.
