SUMMARY:Reimagining Gifted Identification: The Power of the GRS™ 2
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”” css_params=””] \nWebinar description:\nAcross gifted education\, the impetus around identification is shifting towards an approach that captures the full spectrum of ability.  \nExperts on the matter agree that gifted children learn faster and with greater depth and complexity than their “neurotypical” classmates. Gifted children\, particularly twice-exceptional (2e) individuals—who are both intellectually gifted and living with a learning difference or disability—are often overlooked. \nIn this webinar\, Dr. Steven Pfeiffer\, lead author of the Gifted Rating Scales™ Second Edition (GRS™2)\, explores how this “second generation” diagnostic tool is helping to reimagine gifted identification across domains.   \nLearning objectives:\n\nIntroduction to key issues and challenges in gifted identification \nOften overlooked considerations in gifted assessment  \nKey features of the new GRS 2  \n\nPresenter:\n \nSteven Pfeiffer is a popular speaker\, scholar\, and recognized authority on the gifted. He is a licensed psychologist whose work has focused on gifted identification and the resiliency\, social competency and character development of high ability children. Dr. Pfeiffer received his doctorate at the University of North Carolina. Following his internship in clinical psychology\, he completed post-doctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Pfeiffer is Professor Emeritus at Florida State University. Prior to his tenure at FSU\, he was Director of Duke’s gifted program. Dr. Pfeiffer also served as a Clinical Psychologist in the Navy\, and as a Psychologist at Ochsner Clinic and Medical Center\, New Orleans. He also served as Director of Devereux’s Institute of Clinical Training & Research. Dr. Pfeiffer testified at the White House and before the Italian Parliament. He is lead author of the GRS™ 2\, and author of Essentials of Gifted Assessment (Wiley\, 2015)\, considered the gold standard on gifted identification. His most recent book is Parenting from the Heart: Raising Resilient and Successful Smart Kids (Routledge\, 2024).  \n  \n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_raw_js]JTNDc2NyaXB0JTIwc3JjJTIwJTNEJTIwJTI3aHR0cHMlM0ElMkYlMkZjeHBwdXNhMWZvcm11aTAxY2Ruc2EwMS1lbmRwb2ludC5henVyZWVkZ2UubmV0JTJGY2FuJTJGRm9ybUxvYWRlciUyRkZvcm1Mb2FkZXIuYnVuZGxlLmpzJTI3JTIwJTNFJTNDJTJGc2NyaXB0JTNF[/vc_raw_js][/vc_column][/vc_row]
