Equitable Identification with Universal Assessment & Local Norms

February 27 at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Webinar Description:

Approximately 1.25 million students of color across the U.S. in primary and secondary schools likely qualify for gifted education programming but have not been identified.

Authors of the Naglieri General Ability Tests™, Drs. Naglieri, Brulles, and Lansdowne will describe several ways to address the need to achieve equitable identification during this thought-provoking webinar.

We will discuss the value of universal screening with the Naglieri General Ability Tests, which can be administered to a wide variety of students regardless of the language they know. When combined with local and national norms, these tests maximize the identification of students with the potential for high academic achievement. Emphasis will be placed on identifying educational services that fit the student’s needs.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the advantages of universal screening for gifted identification.
  2. Define the roles test bias and test equity play in test fairness.
  3. Describe the advantages and limitations of local and national norms.
